Fire hydrants in Bethel are being flushed this month. The routine maintenance is said to provide better quality water and fire protection. The Bethel Water Department says residents may experience temporary discoloration and pressure. If the water is discolored, run the cold tap until it's clear and postpone washing clothes and using hot water during that time.
Bethel Police are participating in a prescription drug takeback day. On Saturday the 28th, there will be drop off boxes available through the Drug Enforcement Administration. There will no questions asked for resident turning in expired, unwanted and unused prescription medication.
A Bethel man has been arrested by Danbury police for laundering money. Police say 50-year old Bruce Amico has been charged with 1st degree larceny and conspiracy to commit 1st degree larceny. He was released on $50,000 bond.
