30 need medical treatment after 'dayglow' concert in Danbury

Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton says West Conn may want to reconsider hosting "Dayglow'' concerts, after more than 30 people who went to a Friday night show on campus had to be taken to a hospital.

University officials say that most of the people needing medical attention Friday night into early Saturday morning were treated for alcohol intoxication. One person was admitted to the hospital, but no serious injuries were reported.

University spokesman Paul Steinmetz says no Alcohol was not sold at the event and that the university checked students going ito the concert.  If anyone appeared to be drunk, they were turned away.

He adds that this was the first year they hosted an event like this.  There have been no discussions on future Dayglow concerts.

A Danbury Hospital official called Dayglow concerts ``patient-producing events'' and noted 40 people at a recent concert in Hartford had to be taken to hospitals.
