MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (AP) The state police union says management has scheduled another ``ticket blitz'' -- this time in the Waterbury and Danbury areas.
The union says the enforcement effort aimed at speeding and other violations is being done today on Interstate 84 from the New York line to exit 28 and along Route 8 from exits 29 to 36. Extra troopers will also be patrolling other roads in western Connecticut.
The union began announcing the location of the extra patrols this month after accusing management of improperly setting quotas and encouraging competitions for ticket writing. Union officials say the blitzes take troopers away from more important duties.
State police officials say there are no illegal ticket quotas in place.
