A Danbury man has been arrested after nearly hitting a police cruiser overnight. Police say a car on West Street crossed into the opposite lane, where the cruiser was travelling and nearly clipped it.
Officers pulled over Luis Astudillo just after midnight Monday and charged him with driving while intoxicated among other counts. Police say the man did not having a drivers license and his driving privileges had been suspended.
Astudillo was being held on $2,500 bond for arraignment Monday.
A Danbury man was arrested for assaulting a police officer, among other charges over the weekend. Police say a city resident came home to find a man, later determined to be 20-year old Gerald Robinson, lying on his couch.
Robinson allegedly told the homeowner to get out or he would be killed.
Police say the man's friends heard him and tried to pull him out of the apartment, but Robinson began fighting with them, and then with the responding officers. One officer was treated at the hospital after being kicked in the eye when the man, who was allegedly intoxicated, tried to kick the police cruiser.
Robinson has been charged with assault on an officer, interfering with an officer, burglary, disorderly conduct and threatening.
