A 22-year-old Wilton man has been arraigned on a murder charge in the beating and stabbing death of his 73-year-old father. Aaron Ramsey was arrested Thursday after police responded to a report that a man covered in blood had run into a house and gone to sleep on the floor.
Police later responded to the Ramsey family's home, where they found Edward Ramsey, dead of multiple injuries. Aaron's mother called 911 after finding her husband in a pool of blood.
The woman told a 911 operator that her husband's face was bludgeoned. She saw a pick or a hammer nearby when asked if there was a weapon in the room. Mrs Ramsey was asked by the Wilton operator if her son has been having problems.
She told the woman that her son was acting strange, like he was on drugs or psychotic. She added that he deemed irritable, but didn't show violence in the week leading up to Thursday.
Ramsey told police he punched, kicked and stabbed his father before running through the woods to escape aliens. After a confrontation with his father at the house, he hit the elder Ramsey with a bench and came back with a kitchen knife to slit his throat. He instead stabbed his father in the stomach, groin, head and chest and then stomped on him.
He told police he heard voices saying that his father had magic powers and can heal himself, and then told him to run.
A Superior Court judge Friday kept Ramsey's bond at $1 million and ordered a mental health evaluation.
