Commercial Vehicle Inspections earlier this month revealed 56 violations on 11 trucks that were pulled over in the Newtown area. The state Department of Motor Vehicles worked with police in Newtown, Monroe and Trumbull in an effort to take dangerous trucks off the road.
The inspections last Friday took place on Route 25, which connects the three towns participating in the joint effort.
$3,000 worth of fines were issued.
6 of the 11 trucks were immediately taken out of service because the violations were found to be serious. The issues included inoperable brakes, lighting problems and a damaged axle position part. Four truck drivers were pulled from service for violations.
