A Brewster man has been arrested for assaulting a taxi driver with a knife. New York State Police received a call about the attack Sunday and determined that the victim was taking the suspect, 43-year old Manuel Estabon, to the bank to get money to pay for the ride.
Before reaching the bank, Estabon allegedly slashed the driver in the face, neck, and hands.
Estabon then fled into a nearby wooded area. He was caught and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Estabon was arraigned and ordered held on $300,000 bond.
The victim is in stable condition.
