A Justice and Law Administration professor and an assistant Professor of Accounting were in the West Side cafeteria on Wednesday when a student approached them, motioning that he was choking on food.
That's when JLA Professor Terrence Dwyer, who is a retired New York State Trooper, used the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge the food from the student’s throat. The student immediately began to breathe normally.
The university says Dwyer being in the right place at the right time and quick response may have saved the student's life.
