The deadline to register has been extended to Thursday, November 1st at 8pm.
Sherman Registrar of Voters Sheila McMahon says if you want to participate in the November 6th election, you need to present either a drivers license or social security card as ID. Plans as of Saturday were for all of the registrar's offices in the state to be open on Tuesday from 9am to 8pm. That was when Tuesday at 8pm was the deadline.
Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says this is going to be a very high turnout election and urges anyone thinking about the very important issues facing municipalities, the state and the country--to register to vote now while you still can so your voice can be heard.
Merrill says barring any last-minute withdrawals, the list of candidates for the general election is now set. Write-in candidates do not appear on the ballot, but voting machines are programmed to accept votes for write-ins if they are registered with the Secretary of the State.
