Fire breaks out at bedding factory in Shelton

SHELTON, Conn. (AP) Four firefighters were injured battling an overnight blaze at a Shelton bedding factory.

Fire officials say the fire broke out at the Latex International building on River Road at about 1 a.m. Thursday.

Crews from Ansonia, Derby, Monroe and Stratford were called to help bring the fire under control.

Fire officials say one firefighter suffered a broken arm and three others were sent to the hospital suffering from heat exhaustion.

Latex International moved to the 208-thousand square foot building in Shelton after a major fire destroyed its Ansonia factory in 2001. The company also survived an arson fire in 1975.

The parent company, Latex Foam International Holdings, filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this month.
