Connecticut's business climate a campaign issue

hARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Whether Connecticut is friendly to business is a key issue in this year's governor's race.

Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy contends things are improving. And despite concerns about the state's mandatory paid sick leave law, affected businesses are thriving.

Malloy's two Republican challengers claim Malloy has not done enough to help businesses grow jobs and has worsened the situation by his actions, such as increasing taxes and backing paid sick leave. They've been pointing to various reports from groups that rank Connecticut at the bottom of the 50 states for business friendliness.

While Malloy says Connecticut has grown 55,000 private-sector jobs since he took office, jobs lost in the recession have not been fully recovered.
