Milford teacher charged with assaulting student

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) Milford police say a high school teacher accused of restraining a student by the neck during class has been charged with assault.

Police said Monday that 32-year-old Mark Ruzbarsky of Milford was charged with assault and breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear and is due in court on July 29.

Kathy Bonetti, spokeswoman for the school district, says Ruzbarsky still works for the district. He teaches math at Jonathan Law High School.

Police say on Feb. 24 they received a complaint regarding an incident between a teacher and student. They say an investigation led to the arrest of Ruzbarsky.

Police say the 15-year-old male student suffered minor injuries.

It's not known if Ruzbarsky has an attorney. A message left on a possible number for him was not immediately returned.
