BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) Police say a 37-year-old Bridgeport man is in critical condition after attacking a woman with a knife and then stabbing himself.

Police tell the Connecticut Post the man attacked the woman inside a home on Marion Street Sunday night.

She suffered a head wound and defensive wounds to her hands, but is expected to recover.

Police say the man fled to the third floor of the home when police arrived and was later found with a self-inflicted stab wound.

Police have not released the identities of those involved.
