New Haven resident injured in home invasion

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) New Haven police say they are searching for three suspects after an early morning home invasion.

Assistant Police Chief Archie Generoso says the men were armed when they broke into a home on Whittlesey Avenue at about 3 a.m.

One of two people living in the home was struck by the intruders and was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Generoso says shots were fired outside the home, but no one was hit by the gunfire.

Police say the intruders stole a number of items from the home, but dropped some of them on the lawn while fleeing.

Generoso says police have strong leads in the case and do not believe the incident was random.
