Hebron woman faces felony charge in fatal crash

HEBRON, Conn. (AP) A 50-year-old Hebron woman has been charged with a felony in a fatal accident that took the life of a RHAM Middle School teacher.

Police say Elizabeth Everett turned herself in Tuesday to face a felony charge of misconduct with a motor vehicle. She also was cited for unsafe backing.

Dawn Mallory died two weeks after being struck by Everett's car in the parking lot of the school in Hebron in March. Police say the 65-year-old teacher fell backward after being struck and hit her head on the pavement.

Police say Everett pulled into a school bus loading zone and was trying to back out when the accident occurred.

A phone message was left Wednesday morning seeking comment from Everett, who is due in Rockville Superior Court on Aug. 12.
