State Police name Trooper struck, injured on I-91

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut State Police have released the name of a trooper who was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on Interstate 91 in Hartford.

Authorities say Trooper Michael Quaglioroli was hit Thursday evening after he stopped to help a driver who was trying to remove a truck bed liner that fell from his vehicle onto the highway. The driver also was struck.

Authorities said Quaglioroli's cruiser was parked in the center lane with the emergency lights on.

Quaglioroli is being treated at Hartford Hospital for head injuries and multiple fractures. His condition wasn't immediately available. The other man was in stable condition at another hospital.

Quaglioroli has been on the force for eight months.

The driver who struck the two men hasn't been charged.
