2 charged with sex trafficking of minors in Conn.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) A federal grand jury in Connecticut has indicted two people on sex trafficking charges involving several minors.

U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly said Wednesday that 25-year-old Wellington ``Jamal'' Brown, a Jamaican citizen who lived in Hartford, and 21-year-old Sheena Dume, formerly of Stratford and Greenwich, face sex trafficking charges involving five minors.

The indictment says Brown and Dume conspired to recruit, entice, harbor and transport the victims for sex acts from June 2013 to last February. They were arrested in Glen Burnie, Md., on July 30 after being indicted, and they remain detained.

Dume's lawyer declined to comment Thursday. Brown's lawyer didn't immediately return messages.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and up to life in prison.
