STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) Stamford police say they have a suspect in custody in connection with the fatal stabbing of a taxi driver in what appeared to be a robbery.
Police are expected to release the suspect's name and the charges against him Thursday.
Authorities say 47-year-old Mahomed Kamal was stabbed multiple times in his torso area and was found on the front lawn of a home Wednesday morning. Officers found his taxi crashed into some trees down the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say they believe there was a violent struggle both inside and outside the cab. Officials believe Kamal was stabbed with a knife, but the weapon hasn't been recovered.
Police say Kamal was a native of Bangladesh and was married with children.
