Pedestrian killed in Conn. by Boston-bound train

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) A pedestrian at the downtown Fairfield train station has been struck and killed by a Boston-bound Amtrak train.

The man's identity has not been released since the incident on Saturday night.

Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara said the man may have been trying to climb back up on the platform from the tracks when he was struck.

An Amtrak spokesman says no crew members or any of the 185 passengers aboard the train were injured. He says the train was delayed for several hours as officials investigated.

Most Metro-North trains were stopped for about a half-hour, but then resumed limited service.
