BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) A Bristol man has pleaded guilty to burglarizing the wrong apartment.

The Bristol Press reports that Michael Doucette broke into a second-floor apartment in May, though police say he intended to enter an apartment on the third floor.

Police say the 27-year-old Doucette, carrying a backpack with a butcher knife and burglary tools, cut the power and entered the second-floor apartment, taking a TV.

Police say Doucette was looking for a man he claimed had damaged his car.

The tenant walked in on Doucette, who realized the man he was looking for lived on the third floor.

He's being held on $50,000 bond and has pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary. His sentence is capped at 10 years, suspended after two years in prison, and five years of probation.
