West Haven mum on ID of man who prompted police chase

WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) West Haven police say a chase that ended in a crash that injured two officers was a possible medical issue and are not releasing the identity of the man involved.

Deputy Chief Joseph Perno said Wednesday that police are trying to determine what led to the incident on Tuesday.

The New Haven Register reports that photographs show police with guns drawn at the scene where the incident began.

Police arrested the man, but information on the charges was not immediately available.

Perno said no shots were fired. He said the man struck one police car with his vehicle as he left his driveway and another where the incident ended and other vehicles along the way.

Perno said several handguns were seized and ``there was interaction between the officers and him at the home.''
