BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) Police say a 69-year-old New Haven man was killed when the minivan he was driving the wrong direction on Interstate 95 crashed head-on into pickup truck in Branford.
Police say Peter Hall was pronounced dead at the scene of the Thursday morning accident, which left a passenger in the pickup seriously injured.
The crash, which tied up traffic on the Interstate for hours, occurred just after 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes.
Police say 45-year-old Frank Poppa of Casa Grande, Arizona was hospitalized with a serious injury and the pickup's driver, 43-year-old Hopeton Kerr of Bridgeport, had minor injuries.
Police were investigating how Hall came to be driving south in the northbound lanes of the highway.
