Stamford man convicted of in plot to kill wife's lover

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) A six-person jury needed only a day of deliberations to find a Stamford landscaper guilty of conspiring to hire someone to kill his wife's Greenwich lover nearly five years ago.

The Stamford Advocate reports that Miguel Juarez was convicted Thursday of conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder. He now faces up to 40 years in prison when he returns to state Superior Court for sentencing June 30.

Authorities say Juarez put into motion a plan with a former employee, German Zecena, to kill Greenwich resident William Forte, who authorities say was having an affair with Juarez's wife.

A police informant put Zecena in touch with an undercover officer posing as a hit man.

Zecena remains in custody on an attempted murder charge.
