Accident shuts down Interstate 95 north in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) A fatal traffic accident shut down Interstate 95 northbound in Fairfield, causing lengthy delays during the morning rush hour.

State police say two cars collided just after 3 a.m. in the center lane near Exit 23, sending one of the cars into the woods.

Police say 20-year-old Anozine Demonte of Bridgeport, a front-seat passenger in that vehicle, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people suffered minor injuries.

The highway remained closed for several hours as state police conducted an investigation and traffic was backed up for several miles.
