Drug suspect wants case tossed after arresting officer fired

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) An attorney for a Waterbury man who pleaded guilty to drug and weapons crimes is seeking to have his conviction thrown out after the arresting officer was fired.

Attorney Ioannis Kaloidis tells the Republican-American newspaper he believes the August 2012 police report filed against 24-year-old Michael Green was ``full of lies.''

Arresting officer Ryan Cubells was fired last year after police say he was recorded during an FBI intestigation making racist comments and bragging about abusing suspects.

At the time Cubells, was serving a 25-day suspension at the time for kicking a restrained African-American suspect.

Green had pleaded guilty to charges filed after police say he ran from a drug deal to an apartment, where officers found marijuana plants growing on the back porch.
