NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) A Hartford police officer arrested for his involvement in a fatal crash while on-duty has been acquitted.
A New Britain jury cleared Officer Taikwon Dudley of all charges Monday.
Hartford police charged the 35-year-old with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, reckless driving, traveling unreasonably fast and running a red light after investigating the July 13, 2012 crash.
Police found that Dudley was driving 57 mph on Woodland Street in response to a call. They say he ran a red light before crashing into the passenger side of 50-year-old Anthony Mansfield's car.
Mansfield was seriously injured and died a week later.
Mansfield's estate has filed a pending suit against the city, police department and Dudley.
