Prosecutor: Bridgeport police justified in fatal shooting

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) A state prosecutor says four Bridgeport police officers were justified in the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man who authorities say pointed a gun at police during an undercover operation.

Litchfield State's Attorney David Shepack's report on the use of deadly force against Carnell Williams was released Wednesday.

Shepack said Williams pointed a loaded revolver at police as officers went to arrest him and other occupants of a car during an undercover gun purchase in November 2013. Williams was shot five times and died from one of the wounds, and a woman driving the car was shot in the face but survived.

Shepack said Officer Everton Walker and Detectives Christopher Borona, Sean Ronan and James Borrico were justified in shooting at Williams because he threatened the officers' safety.
