ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. (AP) The charges keep piling up for a Connecticut man accused of stealing a police car and ramming four cruisers during a wild chase in northern New Jersey.
Authorities say 22-year-old Sereymanta Kong is charged with injuring four officers, the latest being a sheriff's officer who guarded him at a hospital.
The Record newspaper reports Kong allegedly injured the officer, who was knocked to the ground while a nurse tried to give Kong medication.
The chase began Sunday afternoon when Kong stole the SUV of a woman who stopped to help as he was lying in the street.
After police gave chase, Kong somehow was able to steal a police cruiser. He was caught in Paramus.
He's being held on about $1.3 million bail. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
