Police: Father arrested after son, 4, found on side of road

NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) Police say a Connecticut man was arrested after his 4-year-old son was found wandering along the side of a road.

Police say the boy walked nearly three quarters of a mile from his house in Waterford to a road in New London where he was found around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The boy told police he could not wake his father, 28-year-old Phillip Rahilly, who was allegedly asleep at the house.

Police say Rahilly arrived at the scene after they contacted the boy's mother.

Police say Rahilly told them he had been looking for the boy for 20 minutes, but had not contacted police.

He was charged with risk of injury to a minor and is being held on $75,000 bond. It's not clear if he has an attorney.
