Police ID robbery suspect shot by police after chase

BOLTON, Conn. (AP) State police have identified a 53-year-old bank robbery suspect shot by a trooper and a Manchester officer after a high-speed car chase.

Police said Christopher T. Anderson, whose last known address was Hartford, remains hospitalized on Saturday.

Police say the suspect robbed a First Niagara bank in South Windsor on Friday and led officers on a pursuit through Manchester and into Bolton. He crashed on Route 44 in Bolton and got out of the car.

Police say Manchester Officer Jason Wagner shot the man with a stun gun, but he pulled the probes out of his body. State police said Trooper Brian Contenta and Manchester Officer Layau Eulizier fired shots at Anderson when he approached them with what appeared to be a box cutter.

Contenta is on administrative duty during the investigation, under department policy.
