Robbery suspect shot by Connecticut police dies

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) A bank robbery suspect has died two days after being shot by a Connecticut state trooper and a Manchester officer following a high-speed chase through three towns.

State police announced Monday that 53-year-old Christopher Anderson of Hartford died from his injuries Sunday evening at Hartford Hospital. An autopsy is planned.

Authorities said Anderson robbed a First Niagara bank in South Windsor on Friday and led officers on a pursuit through Manchester and into Bolton. Police say he crashed on Route 44 in Bolton and got out of the car with a weapon in his hand.

State police say a stun gun didn't work on Anderson, who was then shot by Trooper Brian Contenta and Manchester Officer Layau Eulizier as he approached them with the weapon.

The shooting remains under investigation.
