Police: Girl, 3, injured after car ran over her in driveway

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) Police say a 3-year-old girl in Connecticut was critically injured after a car ran over her in the driveway of her home.

It happened around 10:16 a.m. Tuesday in Stamford.

Police say the child's 32-year-old mother had parked her car in front of the house and was unloading her two children and groceries when the car started rolling backward.

The vehicle ran over the child before her mother was able to put it into park. Police say the woman's 20-month-old son was in the car.

The 3-year-old was taken to Stamford Hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening and was later airlifted to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
