2 high-level Bridgeport heroin dealers plead guilty

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) Two high-level heroin dealers from Bridgeport have pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges.

The Connecticut Post reports that 24-year-old Ivan ``Remo'' Diaz, and 38-year-old Jose ``Domi'' Mercano, pleaded guilty Wednesday before Superior Court Judge Robert Devlin to multiple counts of sale and conspiracy to sell narcotics. Both men are from the Dominican Republic.

Police say when they raided an apartment on Central Avenue they seized more than eight pounds of heroin ready for sale and more than a pound of cocaine. Police say the men were responsible for much of the heroin being sold on Bridgeport streets.

Prosecutors say they will recommend Mercano serve eight years and Diaz 10 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 14.
