Man gets jail time in stabbing assault at Manchester home

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) A 27-year-old Connecticut man will serve time in prison for a 2014 stabbing assault that the victim says left him permanently scarred.

The Hartford Courant reports 27-year-old Edward Walker pleaded guilty in June to first-degree assault for stabbing 37-year-old Nicholas Delguidice 13 times. He will serve six and a half years in prison.

Prosecutors said Walker stabbed Delguidice at a home in Manchester. Walker claims he stabbed Delguidice out of self-defense after Delguidice allegedly charged into the house and assaulted him. He says his intentions were not to harm him.

Delguidice said in court that the stab wounds caused his lungs to collapse and he hasn't been able to work since. He says the stabbing has ``ruined his life.''

Walker's lawyer says he did ``what was necessary to survive.''
