Lawyers seek private dog euthanasia hearing in mauling case

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (AP) -- Attorneys in Connecticut say they're trying to close a dog euthanasia hearing to protect the privacy of a woman who police say was mauled by two dogs.

The Bulletin reports Plainfield lawyers along with attorneys for 56-year-old Lynne Denning, of Canterbury, filed a joint motion Tuesday hoping to prevent the public from attending a hearing on whether to euthanize two of the dogs.

The motion states the evidence includes "graphic photos" of the aftermath of the attack. Police say Denning suffered injuries to her face, chest, arms and legs after being mauled in December.

An attorney representing one of the dog owners says he questions if the motion is being filed as a delay tactic or to prevent the public from seeing the evidence.
