Connecticut police: Man charged with 6 serial killings

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) An arrest warrant says an East Coast drifter admitted to fellow inmates that he killed six women and a man in Connecticut 2003, and he drove around with one of the dead victims in his van for two weeks and slept next to the body.

The warrant was released Friday after 45-year-old William Devin Howell was arraigned on multiple murder counts in New Britain Superior Court. Victims' relatives cried in the courtroom.

All the victims' remains were found behind a strip mall in New Britain, about 12 miles southwest of Hartford. Police say Howell also raped three of the women.

Howell is already serving a 15-year prison sentence for manslaughter for killing one of the victims.

The warrant says Howell told his cellmate he had a ``monster'' inside of him.
