Police: Man driving drunk with infant in vehicle

CLINTON, Conn. (AP) A Killingworth man has been charged with driving drunk with a 9-day old baby in his vehicle.

Police say 25-year-old Amado Dilone was approaching a sobriety checkpoint on Route 81 in Clinton at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when he tried to flee.

Police tell The New Haven Register his vehicle came to a sudden stop near the checkpoint and then backed up, hitting the car behind. He then made a U-turn and fled. Officer pursued and stopped him a short distance from the checkpoint.

Authorities say the infant was not properly restrained.

Dilone faces several charges including operating under the influence, operating with a suspended license, and transporting a child under the age of 4 without a proper restraint system. He was held on $5,000 bail.
