Chief: 4 firefighters hospitalized after car T-bones engine

WATERBURY, Conn. (AP) Fire officials say four firefighters in Connecticut were hurt after the engine they were in was hit by a car pulling out of a driveway.

Waterbury Fire Chief David Martin says the firefighters were headed to a report of smoke in a condo complex between around 8 p.m. Thursday night when the car T-boned the fire truck.

Martin says one of the firefighters was treated for a broken hand. All four were taken to St. Mary's Hospital with minor injuries. People in the car also suffered minor injuries but were not hospitalized.

Both the fire engine and the passenger car sustained heavy damage. The engine had to be towed.

Police are investigating the crash.
