Police: Woman stabbed in random attack outside drug store

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Police say a mentally ill woman stabbed a victim multiple times in the head in what appeared to be a random attack outside a Connecticut drug store. The victim survived.

Authorities say a 27-year-old woman left a CVS in West Hartford at about 1 a.m. Friday when the other woman stabbed her in the head several times with a 8- to 10-inch knife. The victim was treated at a hospital and discharged.

Fifty-eight-year-old Gloria Drummer of West Hartford was charged with first-degree assault and breach of peace. She was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and was later arraigned in Superior Court. A judge set bail at $100,000.

It wasn't immediately clear if Drummer is represented by a lawyer who could respond to the allegations.
