Husband accused of killing wife being held on $1.5M bail

DERBY, Conn. (AP) A judge has set a man's bail at $1.5 million after prosecutors say he admitted to ``callously'' shooting his wife to death during an argument.

Prosecutors say 52-year-old Thomas Infante, of Shelton, is a flight risk, noting that he drove to the Ohio border before turning around and turning himself in to police.

Prosecutors say Infante admitted to police on Monday that he shot his wife of 27 years, 52-year-old Lisa Infante, Sunday night. Police say the two had been going through a divorce.

Infante appeared in Superior Court in Derby Tuesday afternoon. His next court date is slated for Oct. 8.

Infante's attorney asked that his bail be set at $500,000, noting he did not have a violent history, owned a home in town and had family nearby.
