WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) A construction worker was killed after being struck by a backhoe at a construction site in West Haven.

Authorities say crews were working on a sewer line near Boston Post Road on Tuesday afternoon when the 55-year-old worker was hit by the equipment.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities haven't released the man's identity.

The incident remains under investigation.
