HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Two Massachusetts men who pleaded guilty in a Connecticut home invasion during which two children hid and called their mother are headed to prison.
The Hartford Courant reports that 29-year-old Clinton Mitchell and 27-year-old Michael Walters were each sentenced this week to seven years in prison.
Mitchell previously pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary. Walters pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and risk of injury to a minor.
Prosecutors say the Springfield, Massachusetts men broke into the Manchester home on Dec. 22, 2015, and thought the house was not occupied. They say an 11-year-old girl and 12-year-old boy were home.
Police said the children hid when they heard the men breaking through a door. They remained on the second floor and called their mother while the men searched the house.
