Fleury to take over as chairman of Board of Regents

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The Board of Regents for Higher Education in Connecticut has a new chairman.

Board member Matt Fleury will replace Nicholas M. Donofrio, who stepped down July 1 after serving four years on the board.

Fleury is the president and CEO of the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford. He has served on the board since its creation in 2011, including as chairman of the finance and infrastructure committee, as a member of the executive committee and as part of various presidential search committees.

Donofrio says he's proud of his tenure on the board. He calls Fleury a trusted colleague.

The board governs four state universities, 12 community colleges and Charter Oak State College, an online school.
