NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Officials say two dogs that mauled a Connecticut woman to death last month have been euthanized.

The New Haven Register reports that New Haven Animal Control Officer Joseph Manganiello confirmed the two American bulldog mixes were humanely euthanized Wednesday.

The dogs had been quarantined after attacking 53-year-old Jocelyn Winfrey on June 20 in New Haven. Winfrey succumbed to her injuries a week later at the hospital.

The dogs' owner, Hamilton Hicks, has not been charged in the incident. The Yale Medical School resident psychiatrist is on leave from the school and is facing unrelated charges.

The city has said the dogs were properly registered and vaccinated, and there were no prior complaints against them.

Alder Brian Wingate says he plans to explore possible ordinance changes addressing dogs and dog owners.
