HARWINTON, Conn. (AP) - Police say a Connecticut man lost part of his arm in a fireworks incident during a private, unlicensed fireworks show.

Crews responded to a Harwinton home around 8:30 p.m. Saturday. Emergency workers took a 28-year-old man to the hospital for treatment.

Police say the Waterbury man's left arm was amputated below the elbow by a piece of metal shrapnel.

Authorities are investigating.
