3rd man charged in theft of rifle from state police cruiser

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police have arrested a third man in connection with the theft of a semi-automatic rifle and bulletproof vest from a trooper's cruiser.

James Lee, of New Haven, was arrested Wednesday at New Haven Superior Court. The 19-year-old was already in custody and was being arraigned on unrelated charges.

Two other men were arrested last week on several weapons charges stemming from the March theft. Authorities say they expect several more arrests.

The cruiser was parked outside the trooper's Milford home and was one of several vehicles in the area that were burglarized. Burglars broke into the cruiser's trunk, where the AR-15 rifle was stored. The weapon was later recovered.

Lee is being held on bond. He's due in court Thursday.
