Connecticut fire chief dies in traffic crash

WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) State police say a Connecticut fire chief has died in a single-vehicle car crash.

Police say Easy Granby Fire Chief Peter Ahlstrin was driving east on Route 20 in Windsor at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday when his pickup truck went off the road, struck the wire rope railing and rolled down an embankment.

The 29-year-old Ahlstrin was ejected from the vehicle and pinned underneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

The department on its Facebook page posted: ``Rest easy Chief, we'll take it from here.''
