Footage shows Connecticut governor bypassed airport security

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Security footage shows Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy bypassed security at a state airport while carrying his son's backpack in November.

The events at Bradley International Airport were reported Thursday by the Hartford Courant (http://cour.at/29ZooLS), which obtained airport security camera footage showing the Democratic governor carrying the backpack through a private corridor to a departure gate.

Malloy and his wife, Cathy, were seeing their 23-year-old son, Samuel, off for a flight. While Samuel Malloy went through a security checkpoint, the governor carried his son's backpack while being escorted by state police through the nonpublic corridor.

Malloy apologized in an interview with the Courant and called it an absent-minded mistake. Airport officials say it violated security rules.

The federal Transportation Security Administration investigated and found no violations.
