HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) Police say a Connecticut man threw a bag containing more than $12,000 worth of heroin out the window of his car while fleeing from officers.
The Connecticut Post reports Victor Dewindt, of New Haven, is charged with possession of narcotics, interfering with a police officer and related crimes. It's unclear if Dewindt has a lawyer.
Police say an officer attempted to stop the 56-year-old Dewindt around 9 p.m. Saturday in Hamden because his vehicle had no tail lights.
Officers say Dewindt threw the bag out of the vehicle while fleeing. Police say it contained 600 wax folds of heroin with a street value of about $12,600. Dewindt eventually stopped and was arrested.
Dewindt is being held on $150,000 bond. He's due in court Sept. 16.
