NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Police are investigating after the body of a man was found rotting in the back of a pickup truck parked in a development in New Britain.

Lt. Ben Murphy says the corpse was found around 9 a.m. Tuesday in the bed of a truck parked on Wainwright Drive in Industria Commons.

Officers were called to the scene after residents in the area began noticing a foul smell. Police say the vehicle may have been parked on the street for days.

Chief James Wardwell says there were no obvious signs of trauma on the body. Foul play is not suspected, although police are waiting for an autopsy report before determining whether the man died as the result of a crime.

Police have identified the man but are withholding his name.
